Thousands of Minskers attended festive events in the capital on May 9th, including a concert on Victory Square, the Minsk-Novosti news agency reports. According to preliminary estimates of the Interior Ministry, about 15,000 spectators came to the parade in Minsk alone. The World Health Organization, international organizations, Belarusian experts and the civil society of Belarus had warned that organizing mass events during a dangerous epidemiological situation is risky. But despite the spread of the coronavirus, the country’s authorities did organize celebrations on the occasion of Victory Day.
According to the Interior Ministry, the parade was attended by about 15 thousand spectators. Many spectators also came to the concert held in Victory Square on May 9th. Three hundred seats were set up there. Almost all oof them were occupied. Minskers also visited the holiday fireworks.
Victory Day celebrations attended by spectators were also held in other cities of the country.
