The State Department has published a note in the US Federal Register about the United States including in the sanctions list the Tula Instrument Engineering Design Bureau, the Avangard Machine-Building Plant (Moscow) and the training center for the anti-aircraft missile forces in Gatchino, meduza.io reports.
According to the document, the restrictive measures are introduced on the basis of laws that prohibit the transfer of weapons, cruise or ballistic missiles, as well as components and technologies for their production to Iran, the DPRK and Syria.
The sanctions were introduced on May 14, 2019 and will be valid for the next two years.
The Russian troops, which are located in Syria, use, in particular, the Pantsir-S anti-aircraft missile and cannon complex, which were developed by the Tula Instrument Engineering Design Bureau. The Avangard engineering plant produces missiles for it. This plant also creates missiles for the S-400 systems, which are located at the Russian base in Syria, and for the S-300, which Russia has sold to Iran.
