Love from Ukraine: Donbas-based TV station sends birthday greetings to Belsat TV (video)

Journalists from Ukraine made a humorous news release, dedicated to the 9th birthday of Belsat. In the video, colleagues working for TV station ‘DoTeBe’ (the name can be translate as ‘To You’) extend their best wishes and warmest words to us.

Since February 2015, the Donetsk regional television team has been working in Kramatorsk because broadcasting in Donetsk became impossible due to pro-Russian separatists’s seizing the city. As part of the exchange of professional experiences, ‘Do TeBe’ staff visited Belsat TV office in Warsaw.

“Our channels have a lot in common: we cannot stay and work in our native Donetsk, you cannot stay and work in Minsk. We have to work and reach out to our audience from other places. But I have no doubt that the activity you have been engaged in for the past 9 years is very useful for your fellow citizens, for Belarusians,” said Ilya Suzdalev, deputy director of the channel.

Belsat TV is the only Belarusian language independent television channel formed by a group of Belarusian and Polish journalists as part of Telewizja Polska S.A. in partnership with Poland’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and several European governments and foundations. Preparations for its launching started in June 2006 under the leadership of Agnieszka Romaszewska-Guzy, present director of Belsat TV. In 2007, it started broadcasting on December 10, International Human Rights Day.  Its original content is prepared by more than 100 associates from all over Belarus supported by editors and technicians in Warsaw. Its correspondents based in Ukraine, Russia, Lithuania, Czechia, Germany, Belgium and Great Britain provide additional news material.
