Ukrainian TV channel may appear in Belarus - MFA

Belarusian Information Minister Alyaksandr Karlyukevich and his Ukrainian counterpart Artem Bidenko have discussed the issues of cooperation in the field of mass media.

The meeting took place on February 27 in Minsk, the Embassy of Ukraine in Belarus said on Facebook.

“During the meeting topical issues of media cooperation between Belarus and Ukraine were discussed, in particular, a start of a Ukrainian TV station’s broadcast in Belarus. The meeting was attended by the Ambassador of Ukraine to Belarus Igor Kizim,” the statement reads.

In late 2014, the leaders of Ukraine and Belarus agreed to establish a joint television channel, but the plan has not been put into practice yet.

In September 2017, Igor Kizim said that the talks on Ukrainian television’s coming to Belarus were in its ‘active phase’.
