This was reported by the lawyer Nikolai Polozov.

According to the source, seamen and their lawyers, as well as the consuls of the Ukrainian Embassy in Moscow, had repeatedly turned to the investigators for a permission to meet and talk with their relatives, but for almost five months these requests were ignored.

“We expect that the investigation will make this decision with respect to each of the 24 Ukrainian captive seamen, and they will be able to at least hear the voices of their loved ones by telephone,” wrote Polozov.

According to Polozov, the investigation involving the sailors will last until May.

On November 25, in the area of the Kerch strait, Russian border guards shelled and captured Ukrainian warships along with 24 sailors. The detained Ukrainians were taken to Crimea and accused of “violating Russian borders”. Later from Simferopol they were sent to the Lefortovo detention center in Moscow.

On April 17, the Lefortovo Court extended the arrest of Ukrainian sailors until July 24.

On April 21, before the announcement of the voting results, Vladimir Zelenskiy promised to return the Ukrainian sailors to their homeland.

“In addition to the Minsk agreements, we have number one task — to return all our prisoners, all sailors,” said Zelenskiy.
