Ukraine has never had issues coming from the territory of Belarus or issues with Belarus and will never have them, Alyaksandr Lukashenka said at his meeting with Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky in Zhytomyr on Ocrober, 4.

“We will always be the most reliable and trustworthy partners and supporters of yours. If the new government of Ukraine wants to maintain brotherly relations with us, they are more than welcome,” state-run news agency BelTA quotes the Belarusian leader.

In turn, Volodymyr Zelensky made the focus on the ‘affinity of mindsets’ of Belarusians and Ukrainians.

“I am proud and I am sure that every Ukrainian is proud that we have such good neighbours and good relations,” he said.

According to Lukashenka, holding today’s meeting is necessary to ‘make sure we are on the same page’. “I am sure that we will agree on will be fulfilled,” he stressed.

There are ‘no borders’ between the two nations; even their language are similar and understandable, Lukashenka added.

The 2nd Forum of Regions of Belarus and Ukraine is taking place in Zhytomyr on October 3-4.
