Ukraine MP proposes to abandon Minsk as platform for peace talks

The deputy of the “Petro Poroshenko Bloc” Refat Chubarov said that it is necessary to look for another country for peace negotiations in Ukraine, except for Belarus, which voted against the Ukrainian resolution on human rights in Crimea in the UN General Assembly the day before.

He said this in the Ukrainian parliament, “The Ukrainian Truth” reports.

Chubarov noted that Belarus is positioning itself as a country that supposedly promotes dialogue, but in fact it does not.

“I am absolutely sure that we are being offered another country for negotiations on ensuring the territorial integrity of Ukraine and stopping Russian aggression,” said the Deputy and a representative of the Mejlis.

He added that on the eve of the adoption of the resolution in the UN General Assembly, repressions in the Crimea against activists were intensified. According to him, on December 18 alone, there were more than 60 Crimean Tatars sentenced, and the trials of Crimean activists continued for two days.

Earlier, the representative of Ukraine in the humanitarian subgroup of the tripartite contact group for Donbass, Irina Gerashchenko, said that she considers the voting of Russia against the resolution inappropriate.
