Ukraine to give up on Russian gas on April 1

According to the Energy Minister Vladimir Demchishin, there is no longer an urgent need for blue fuel from the neighbor. We can buy gas at a lower price in Europe, said Demchishin.

A few days ago the Russian Ministry of Energy admitted that due to the drop in oil prices, the Russian gas price for Ukraine could go down to 50-80 dollars per 1,000 cubic meters.

Demchishin also noted that the use of gas is expected to decrease by 20-30 million cubic meters.

Currently, Ukraine pays for gas in advance.

On March 20, in Brussels, during the tripartite talks the Russian authorities promised they would consider the option of the “summer package” – a quarterly decrease of price for Ukraine. Here the price will depend on the economic situation and the competitiveness of Russian fuel.
