Ukrainian border guards detained a militant who called himself a former deputy commander of Donbas separatist unit ‘Vostok’.
“That night, Belarusian law enforcers deported a Ukrainian citizen to the territory of Ukraine for allegedly committing an administrative offense in Belarus. At the same time, Belarusian colleagues have banned him from entering their country for 10 years,” Ukraine’s State Border Service reports.
In 2014, the man joined the so-called Donetsk republic forces and started fighting against Ukraine. According to preliminary information, he served as deputy commander of the brigade Vostok and also worked for the ‘state security ministry’ of the so-called Donetsk republic. He was reportedly responsible for developing the strategy and tactics of military operations as well as creating the ideological concept of the ‘republic’.
“Having realized that his being in illegal armed groups is futile, he went to the Republic of Belarus through Russia. Trying to get a job in Belarus, he placed an ad on one of the Internet resources, in which, in particular, he referred to his experience as a deputy commander of Vostok. The law enforcement officers of the neighboring state did not give recognition to his merits and removed from the country,” the statement reads.
Indeed, profile of a Ukrainian citizen born in 1983 who looked for a top manager position and mentioned the ‘separatist’ experience appeared on jobs.tut.by in the summer of 2018. Then, the unusual ad drew Internet users’ attention.
