Eurovision 2017 national selection: Audition kicks off in Belarus


A total of 65 applications have been submitted for the Eurovision 2017 national selection process. The finalists will be announced on the audition day, 30 November.

Pyotr Klyuyeu, a well-known Belarusian-speaking musician,is set to compete for a plsce in the final. He started preparation for the selection in early November. The singer has recently defended the country’s reputation in Ukraine’s The X Factor show. Today he is going to perform the song Chamu? (Why) the Belarusian-language. Pyotr composed its music himself; Ales Sneh being a lyricist.

 Applications have come from Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, Latvia, Turkmenistan, the United States, and Nigeria.

Some participants have apparently decided to impress the jury with eccentric trick. For example, Strogo rock band from Babruysk will present a song about… butts:

The final concert for Belarus’ Eurovision entry will be held no later than 25 January 2017. The winner of the national selection will represent Belarus at the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest to be hosted by Kyiv (Ukraine).

At the 2016 Eurovision song contest Alyaksandr ‘IVAN’ Ivanou, a representative of Belarus, performed the song Help Me Fly. He failed to get into the final.
