Two suspects detained over fireworks explosion in Minsk

Two suspects were detained in the criminal case of fireworks explosions in Minsk on July 3, the Investigative Committee wrote in its telegram channel.

“During the investigation it was established that the representatives of the supplier’s company violated the order of work with fireworks in the process of charging the fireworks. They made a mechanical impact on the pyrotechnic charges while loading the mortars, which is not provided for by the rules of their handling,” said the IC.

The two men (28 and 25 years old) arrived in Belarus specifically to provide technical assistance in preparation for the holiday fireworks. Their actions, according to the Investigative Committee, show signs of a crime under Part 2 of Article 299 of the Criminal Code (violation of the rules of handling explosive substances and pyrotechnic products, resulting in death by negligence).

The IC does not specify whether they are citizens of Russia.

It is known that the Russian company Piro-Ross was the supplier of fireworks for the Independence Day.

The investigation is under way.
