Halina Ulasik, Tut.by news department rditor, who was previously a defendant in the “BelTA case, said: investigators demanded that I falsely accuse Maryna Zolatova, and after refusing to do it I was sent to prison.

Halina Ulasik was detained on August 7, 2018 and spent 2 days in the temporary detention facility.

“On August 7, I was detained after the search and taken to the interrogation as a witness. During the interrogation, the investigators told me that I must testify that I had visited BelTA on the instructions of Zolatava. I was told that if I did not cooperate with the investigation, they would detain me. And I was sent to the detention facility,” she said in court.

Ms Ulasik did not deny that she had visited BelTA website, but she said she had never discussed it with Maryna Zolatava.

Tut.by editor Hanna Rudenka also acknowledged at a court session on February 15 that she used a paid subscription to BelTA. Maryna Zolatava did not know about Hanna’s use of passwords, she learned about it only during the investigation. Prior to the beginning of the “BelTA case”, Hanna never discussed the use of BelTA materials from a paid subscription with Zolatava.
