Trump prolongs sanctions against Russia for aggression in Ukraine

The President of the USA Donald Trump has prolonged the American sanctions against Russia for annexation of Crimea, the website of the White House informs.

By his decision Trump has extended the restrictions imposed in March 2014 for another year.

“The actions and policies of persons that undermine democratic processes and institutions in Ukraine; threaten its peace, security, stability, sovereignty, and territorial integrity; and contribute to the misappropriation of its assets, and the actions and policies of the Government of the Russian Federation, including its purported annexation of Crimea and its use of force in Ukraine, continue to pose an unusual and extraordinary threat to the national security and foreign policy of the United States. Therefore, I have determined that it is necessary to continue the national emergency declared in Executive Order 13660 with respect to Ukraine,” Trump said in the statement.

As Ukrainian News reported earlier, the US Senate democrats will send an appeal to Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Finance Minister Steven Mnuchin, demanding that Russia be punished for trying to influence the 2020 presidential election.
