U.S. President Donald Trump has cancelled his planned visit to Poland. The official reason is the Hurricane Dorian approaching to the west coast of the United States.

Trump said he must ensure that all federal government resources are concentrated to fight the storm. Instead, he decided to send Vice-President Mike Pence to Poland, POLITICO reports.

“The storm looks like it could be a very, very big one indeed,” the US president said.

It was planned that Trump would visit Poland on August 31 – September 2 and would take part in the events dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the beginning of the Second World War. He also had a scheduled meeting with his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky in Poland.

Earlier, President of Belarus Alyaksandr Lukashenka refused to attend the events to the 80th anniversary of the beginning of World War II at the invitation of the Polish President Andrzej Duda. Ambassador Uladzimir Chushau will represent the Belarusian side in Warsaw instead.
