Transneft plans to deliver 23.5 million tons of oil to Belarus

The Russian company Transneft plans to increase oil exports to Belarus in 2020 compared to the previous year, the press service of the company reports.

According to the indicative balance, 23.5 million tons of oil will be supplied to the refineries. Last year the refineries of Belarus received 17.6 million tons of oil from Russia.

In total Transneft is going to export 229.5 million tons this year. Last year 238.8 million tons was delivered.

In 2020, Belarus expected to purchase 24-25 million tons of crude oil in Russia, as well as sought compensation for the Russian tax maneuver in the oil industry, as a result of which Belarusian refineries have already suffered losses.

In December, the heads of states held intense negotiations on commodity prices, but failed to reach an agreement. The preliminary agreement expired on December 31.

On January 1, Russia stopped oil supplies, after which Belarus refused to export oil products to meet domestic needs. Belneftekhim claimed that the reserves would be sufficient for about 20 days.

Alyaksandr Lukashenka instructed officials to study the possibility of oil supplies from other countries. On January 14, Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Dzmitry Krutoy said that the Belarusian Oil Company (BOC) had sent out commercial proposals for the purchase of oil to Poland, the Baltic States, Ukraine, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan.

Of Russian companies, only Safmar, owned by Mikhail Gutseriyev, a friend of Lukashenka, agreed to supply oil to Belarus without a bonus. So far we the deal has involved about only 30 thousand tons.
