The Bobs-2016: Belarusian blogger gets User Award Russian


Antijournalist.by, a blog by Belarusian Viktor Malishevskiy, has become People Choice Winner in the category ‘User Award Russian’.

5,519 people voted for the project in The Bobs, the international award honoring online projects that ‘cross language and cultural barriers and thereby showcases the best of what the ever-expanding World Wide Web has to offer’.

“At Antijournalist, the blogger and media analyst from Belarus Viktor Malishevskiy describes and dryly comments on official statistics published by official state media. A typical example: “Since the presidential election (December 2010) the average salary of a Belorussian citizen rose from 1,595,900 to 6,536,100 rubles – or from 531 dollars to 450 dollars.” The Bobs describes Malishevskiy’s blog.

The Russian charity project Takie Dela (Such Things) reporting about children with rare diseases or women who suffered from domestic violence and then running fundraising campaigns for them has taken the second place (4,197 votes).

Since 2004, The Bobs (Best Of Online Activism) has honored bloggers, activists and journalists in 14 languages that champion the open exchange of ideas, freedom of expression and human rights on the Internet.

The competition’s languages are: Arabic, Bengali, Chinese, English, French, German, Hindi, Indonesian, Persian, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Turkish, and Ukrainian. Additionally, an international jury name three additional winners in the four multilingual categories Social Change, Tech for Good, Arts & Culture and Citizen Journalism.
