Teacher forced to quit job for blowing lid off ‘classes in the dark’

A teacher took photos of children who have to stay in the dark during their music lessons. Local authorities are trying to pressure her into leaving on own accord.

Over the past months, the students attending music school of Padlabenne agrotown (Hrodna region) have been taking flashlights to the classes as there has been no electricity since September, tut.by reports.

Teacher Alena sent the photos to their friends who published them on the Internet. The post has attracted journalists’ attention.

In response, representatives of Hrodna regional executive committee suggested the woman should quit the job. Although Alena signed her resignation notice, she admits she would like continue to continue working.

“I have worked as a teacher since the mid 90s. I find the situation as it has developed strange, including the lack of lighting in school and their asking me to quit in the middle of the academic year. It is highly unlikely that I will find a new job,” Alena said.

In turn, Hrodna officials state they offered the teacher to have classes the local library. However, very often there were no seats and room for young musicians, Alena stressed.

(UPD) If the latest reports are anything to go by, the teacher has been reinstated in position.
