Taxi driver Leanid Kulakou free after spending 25 days in jail


Public activist Leanid Kulakou, who works as a taxi driver in Minsk, was finally freed after spending 25 days in jail.
Judge of the Soviet district Maryna Fedarava became known for giving the maximum sentence for participating in a peaceful march which was brutally dispersed by the Belarusian law enforcers..

In February 2017, Volkswagen Touran of taxi driver Leanid Kulakou was arrested for unpaid fines.

In total, about 700 people were detained in Minsk on Freedom Day 2017. Human rights activists point out the diversity of penalties imposed: from the administrative arrest for up to 25 days in jail and fines of up to $ 1,000.
