Taxi drivers planning holiday that could end in strike

Carriers are protesting against high tariffs of dispatch services.

The “Center” trade union of taxi drivers has offered the Minsk-based carriers to have a day-off on July 29 and protest against unjust dispatch services. According to members of the association, the tariffs for transportation are unjust. Whether this action will result in a nationwide strike and what it may lead to was commented on by a trade union leader Alyaksandr Stakhovsky.

“This is a day-off — this is not a strike. The strike can be presented to the employer. Today dispatching services are not our employers, they are simply called sellers. The conditions in which today taxis are working are a complete disgrace that are just masked by the word “order”, – said Mr. Stakhovsky.
The main complaint of taxi drivers is about high prices for order from the dispatch service at a rate of 1 ruble.
