Foreign Ministers of Normandy Four countries

The meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the Normandy Four (Russia, Ukraine, Germany, and France) is to take place in Minsk in the President Hotel on Tuesday afternoon.

The proposal was announced last week, but the intention for the Normandy Four ministerial meeting in the Belarusian capital was confirmed on 29 November.

German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier and French Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Development Jean-Marc Ayrault have already arrived in Belarus, as well as their Ukrainian counterpart Pavlo Klimkin who is set to lay out the country’s roadmap on the implementation of the Minsk Agreements at today’s meeting.

According to Frank-Walter Steinmeier, the work on the implementation of the agreements on the settlement of the situation in Ukraine has been slow. However, it should be continued in spite of ‘all the difficulties’, he said earlier when speaking at the Berlin Foreign Policy Forum.

Meanwhile, Kyiv might seek to move a venue for negotiations on Ukraine from Belarus to another country, Hanna Hopko, a representative of the parliamentary Foreign Affairs Committee, said a few days ago. As Ukraine was deeply disappointed at Belarus’ voting against the resolution on Crimea at the UN General Assembly committee on November 15, it has started to see the true nature of the Belarusian neutrality.
