Svyatlana Tsikhanouskaya is ready to negotiate with the country’s authorities on condition that the detained participants in political protests are released, her headquarters told Interfax on August 30.
The dialogue, if it takes place, will touch upon the procedure for the peaceful transfer of power, Interfax reports.
According to Svyatlana Tsikhanouskaya, the member states of the European Union have confirmed that they are ready to support such a dialogue.
The head of Belarus has said this week that he is ready for a dialogue with labor collectives and the student community.
The presidential elections held in Belarus on August 9 were not recognized by the European Union and the United States.
