Health workers from all over the world call on people to stay at home in order to stop the spread of COVID-19 and save lives.
Belarusian doctors are now part of the online flashmob of solidarity with those who are currently in the forefront of combatting the pandemic.
By the moment, the number of the infected with COVID-19 has totalled to 81 in the country. 22 patients have already been discharged or are ready to be discharged; another 59 people are under supervision and and receive medical treatment, the Belarusian Health Ministry reported on Monday. But still, imposing quarantine measures does not seem to be on the Belarusian government’s agenda at the moment.
“I’ll be at work. Please stay at home,” Maksim Acharetny, Chief Doctor at Children’s Clinical Hospital Nr 3 in Minsk, said and posted his photo on Facebook.
“I urge you to support my colleagues who are now at work, on the front line,” he stressed.
The post was liked and shared more than 1,500 times. Internet users keep expressing their gratitude to Acharetny who was the first doctor in the country to publicly raise the hot-button issue. His Belarusian colleagues are gradually taking up the lead, asking their compatriots to self-isolate and keep social distance.
Amid the coronavirus outbreak, health care centres are getting increasingly overwhelmed, lots of doctors and medical staff are working day and night. To warn people against worsening the situation, Malaysian medical professionals launched the flashmob #StayAtHome; their initiative is going viral around the world.
