‘Staging mass riots’: News editor’s daughter suspect in criminal case


On Tuesday morning, police officers raided the flat of Halina Ulasik, a news editor of popular Belarusian media outlet TUT.BY.

The police seized mobile phones, pendrives and two laptops.

At 9.55, two policemen took out her daughter, journalist Valeryia Ulasik, put her in a car and drove away. She managed to tell TUT.BY that she was detained under Art. 23.34 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (participation in an unauthorised mass event).

However, she is also suspected of being involved in ‘staging mass riots’, a criminal case has been opened, the policemen said.

The Belarusian Investigative Committee has not commented on the situation yet.
