On November 22, Kastus Kalinouski and participants of the 1863-1864 uprising were reburied in Vilnius. Belsat.eu organized a live broadcast of the ceremony.
Belsat TV showed a public farewell ceremony and a solemn procession at the Rosa cemetery, where the remains of the rebels and Kastus Kalinouski found peace in the chapel. Our journalists also talked to historians, activists, politicians and other Belarusians who came to honor the rebels in a specially built mobile studio.
Presidents of Poland and Lithuania Andrzej Duda and Gitanas Nauseda came to the temple where a solemn mass took place. Tadeusz Kondrusiewicz represented Belarus in the Belarusian language.
Official representative of Belarus, Deputy Prime Minister Ihar Pyatryshenka, also arrived in Vilnius to take part in the event.
Chair of the Belarusian People’s Republic Rada Ivonka Survila arrived in Vilnius for the celebrations. A solemn meeting of the Belarusian People’s Republican Council was held in Vilnius.
Flags that covered the coffins of the leaders of the 1863-1864 uprising. Kastus Kalinoski and Zygmunt Serakowski were passed on to the Presidents of Poland and Lithuania.
