Snow Sniper competitions: Kolya Lukashenka wins bronze

Alyaksandr Lukashenka’s youngest son Kolya won sprint bronze and relay silver as part of the Minsk region team at the junior biathlon tournament Snow Sniper.

Uladzislau Gaudis from Brest was first among secondary school age participants; Anatol Shtunder from Minsk came second.

After awarding the winners, the Belarusian leader stressed that his son had no intention to become a professional biathlete or hockey player.

“I am not trying to persuade him, he is still a child. He was very good at swimming, but he flatly rejected it saying that it is a boring sport. He has also a knack for skiing, because he’s tall. He says it is boring too. Now his hobbyhorse is ice hockey. But I do not know what sports he will opt for. I simply teach him the things I am good at myself,” Lukashenka said.

According to him, although Kolya was unwell, he still decided to participate in the tournament.

“His results are 2.5-3 minutes worse than those of the previous stage, but I forgive him, because he was feeling unwell, but said: ”I should go, I made a promise to my team!” It is manly, well done!’ he stressed.

More than 39,000 school students took part in the Snow Sniper competitions. The finals took place at the Raubichi National Olympic Center. A total of 168 young athletes took part in the finals.
