Simplification of visa regime with EU blocked by Belarus

All the members of the Eastern Partnership, except our country, have simplified the visa regime.

An intergovernmental discussion platform in the frame of the Eastern Partnership called “Contacts Between People” has opened in Brussels. This is one of four partnership platforms, it is dedicated to the education, science, youth, culture and media. Among the issues discussed are visa restrictions, including those for Belarus.

For many years we have not had even a simplified visa regime, while our closest neighbors, including Russia, has had it and can pay less, says Andrei Yahorau, Director of the Center for European Transformation.

According to Yahorau, the barrier is put from the Belarusian side, “There are no extra demands, they have already been signed by all the countries of the Eastern Partnership”.

In September, one of the platform meetings in the field of science devoted to the financing of information small and medium businesses will be hosted by Minsk.

Volha Meyarouskaya from the State Committee on Science and Technology said that you cannot survive in science without contacts.

The researcher cannot develop in a confined space, and the history of our Belarusian state confirms it, says Meyarouskaya.

The Eastern Partnership includes six countries: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, and Ukraine.
