‘Short conversation’. Lukashenka meets with Putin in Russia


On June 30, the Belarusian president was present at the unveiling of a memorial in Rzhev (Russia’s Tver region). He got an to the ceremony when attending the Victory Parade in Moscow.

Vladimir Putin and Alyaksandr Lukashenka discussed bilateral relations and integration issues, news agency Interfax reports.

“The presidents in Rzhev had the opportunity to broach opinions with each other. There was a short conversation. In general, they exchanged views on international affairs,” Kremlin press secretary Dmitry Peskov said.

Notably, amid the COVID-19 pandemic and the ongoing election campaign in Belarus, ‘deepening integration’ seemed to have been put off the agenda.

As reported earlier, the head of Belarus arrived in Moscow for the parade on Victory Day together with his sons onJune, 24. After the celebration, he wished the guests not to get sick and called Moscow ‘the capital of homeland’.
