Journalists learned about the visits from the Belarus Foreign Minister.
When asked by journalists about the preparation of Lukashenka’s visit to the EU or the United States, Uladzimir Makei said that diplomatic department is working on “diversification of political and economic contacts”.
“We do not focus only on the West. In the near future the president is flying to the south – to Astana at a meeting of Council of EAEC Heads of State, there is scheduled a series of meetings, which will focus on the development of the Eurasian Economic Union,” said the head of the Belarusian diplomatic corps.
Uladzimir Makei also reported on the preparation of the series of senior officials’ visits “also to the West”.
On May 27 it was announced that there was preparing the visit of Pope Francis in Belarus. “But the preparation and the discussion did not mean that the visit would take place tomorrow or the next day, or the next few days. All state-level visits require careful preparation,” said Makei during a press conference.
On May 21 a meeting of Alyaksandr Lukashenka with the pontiff took place in the Vatican. After an audience, the head of Belarus told reporters that Pope Francis had agreed to come to Belarus.
