Serbian Orthodox Church did not support decision of Constantinople on UOC

The Serbian Orthodox Church did not support the actions of the Constantinople Patriarchate in rehabilitating the leaders of the UOC of the Kyiv Patriarchate and the UAOC Filaret and Macarius.

It is reported by the press service of the religious organization.

“The Synod of the Serbian Orthodox Church is compelled to state that the World Patriarchate made a canonically unjustified decision to rehabilitate two Ukrainian schismatics, Philaret Denisenko and Macarius Malietich, together with their clergy,” the Serbian clergymen said.

They add that they do not accept liturgical and canonical relations with Filaret, Macarius and their supporters.

The Serbian Orthodox Church believes that the question of creating a local church in Ukraine should be decided at the Pan-Orthodox Council.

On October 11, the Synod of the World Patriarchate supported the provision of autocephaly to the Ukrainian Church.

The head of the UOC Kyiv Patriarchate Filaret said that in the near future the Bishops’ Council will be held to create a single Ukrainian church.
