Separatist republic may sell coal to EU with help of Russia

The so-called Donetsk republic (DPR) wants to start supplying coal to the EU under the guise of Russian deliveries.

The separatist republic is about to to sell about 70 rail cars of high-quality coal through Russian agents. The coal in question is to be shipped to foreign markets via Russian seaports, Information Resistance reports.

The deal is allegedly scheduled for mid-June. In the first stage, coal will be sent to the branch of Public Joint Stock Company OGK-2 – Novocherkassk GRES power plant (Russia’s Rostov region). Then ‘Russian’ coal will be sold to Poland, Moldova and other countries.

Luhansk separatists negotiating supply of coal with Belarus?

A week ago, Viktor Tkachenko, a representative of the ‘energy and coal ministry’ of the unrecognised Luhansk People Republic, said when reached by Belsat.eu:

“Yes, Belarus buys our coal. However, at the moment, we do not have any financial relations with the Belarusian government agencies. We are at the stage of negotiations with Minsk, but the final decision is yet to be made. At the same time, private Belarusian enterprises have repeatedly purchased batches of coal and anthracite.”
