Viktor Ageyev, who was captured by Ukrainian soldiers in Luhansk region, claims he has a valid contract with the Russian Defense Ministry.
In an interview with TV station TSN, Ageyev said that in March 2017 he started serving under contract in a military unit in Novocherkassk; soon he was sent to Donbas.
“They pay money. Service is service,” the Russian soldier told reporters.
His сomrade-in-arms Alexander Shcherbo was killed in a fight with Ukrainians, Ageyev stressed.
22-year-old Viktor Ageyev, a native resident of the Altai region of Siberia, was taken captive on June, 24. Russia’s Defense Ministry denies the fact that Viktor Ageyev has ever done military service under contract.
