The cost of a Schengen visa for citizens of Belarus will be reduced from €60 to €35 two months after the signing of the Treaty on Visa Facilitation and Readmission by Belarus and the European Union, the new head of the EU Delegation to Belarus, Dirk Schuebel, said on the air of ONT TV channel.
“I don’t want to give a specific date, but I assure you that we are working hard to make it happen,” said the diplomat.
He stressed that the EU needs to get the consent of all 28 countries and the European Parliament.
“I am optimistic that this will happen soon,” Dirk Schuebel said.
Last week the European Commission submitted the signing of the Agreement on visa facilitation with Belarus to the working bodies of the Council of the European Union.
Belarus has already completed the domestic procedures for the agreements with the European Union on visa facilitation and readmission.
