Russian oppositionist Navalny detained over calls for protest


The Moscow police have detained opposition leader Alexei Navalny on Wednesday morning.

The politician who went for a jog was met by riot policemen not far from his house. He was also going to buy birthday flowers for his wife, Navalny said on Instagram.

At the moment, Alexei Navalny is in Danilovsky district police department of Moscow. The ground for detention is his call on Muscovites to take part in the unauthorised rally near the City Hall on July, 27.

Moreover, the police detained civil activists Konstantin Kotov and Alexander Archagov, the reason being unknown, OVD-info reports.
