Russian MP wants Belarus to show solidarity by refusal to participate in Olympics-2018

Vitaly Milonov, a deputy the State Duma of the Russian Federation, urged the NOCs of the BRICS countries, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstanl to refrain from participating in the Olympic Games in 2018.

“I suggest you show solidarity with our country and refrain from participating in the Games, as Russia’s entering the competitionwill be impossible,” he said.

According to the politician, the Russian Federation is ‘being harassed’ at the International Olympic Committee due to ‘political reasons’.

“Our countries, one way or another, faced with the manifestations of the North Atlantic imperialism. The US and its satellites exerted y’s political pressure and economic blackmail on our countries at varying degrees and varying times. At the moment, Russia itself is at the gunpoint of Uncle Sam. But who can guarantee that your country and your national pride will not come under the hammer of the economic appetites of the West tomorrow?” RIA Novosti quotes the MP.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) ruled to suspend the membership of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) and to bar the country’s national team from the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, the IOC press service announced on Tuesday.

The committee ruled that ‘clean’ Russian athletes will be allowed to take part in the upcoming Olympic Games under a neutral flag. Individual athletes can still receive a permission to take part as neutral athletes and compete under the Olympic flag if they have no previous penalties or disqualifications for doping and pass all pre-Games targeted doping tests. The Olympic Anthem will be played during any ceremony with their participation.
