Russian fans march along Minsk street, riot police keep out


On Thursday, fans of the Russian football club Zenit, blocked the traffic on Kastrychnitskaya street in downtown Minsk – they were marching to the Dinamo stadium, where a match of the Europa League was expected to take place.

About 2,000 Russian football fans arrived in Minsk. They were singing songs and сarrying flares.

АМАП спачатку прасіў фанатаў сысці з праезджай часткі, але потым стаў проста суправаджаць шэсце. Пры гэтым фанаты скандавалі даволі агрэсіўныя крычалкі, нават абражалі міліцыянтаў.

At first, the Minsk riot police asked the fanc to leave the traffic way, but there was no reaction. The police were escorting the column; some fans used aggressive cheerleading chants and even insulted the policemen.

On August 9, FC Dinamo Minsk won Zenit St Petersburg by four goals. The match was part of UEFA Europa League third qualifying round.
