Russia: Villagers ready to kill Orthodox priest suspected of gay affair in church
An Orthodox priest and a public official were allegedly caught when they were having sex right in the church in Kartuzskoye village (Krasnoyarsk region).
The news portal Prospekt Mira reports the details with reference to its readers, but stresses that they failed to get any comment from the local authorities.
“When the villagers got the news, the priest tried to escape, but he was caught away and beaten. I heard that they wanted to take him to the church and burn. The second participant of the scandal ran away quickly,” the reader told journalists.
According to her, the priest got his place after being recommended by officer with whom he was later spotted. In addition, after the story had spread, the wives of the both men attempted to commit suicide.
However, the church authorities state they have never heard of the incident. The district administration has refused to comment on the situation saying that the senior officials are on holiday.
