Russia to remove 755 U.S. diplomats

In Sunday’s interview to the state TV and radio company VGTRK, Russian leader Vladimir Putin promised to remove 755 American diplomats from the country in response to U.S. sanctions.

Such measure is expected to reduce the U.S diplomatic personnel in Russia nearly three-fold, to 455 persons, or as many as there are Russian diplomats serving in the United States.

Last week the U.S. Senate adopted by an overwhelming majority of 98 against 2 votes a bill toughening the US’ unilateral sanctions against Russia, Iran and North Korea. Previously, the bill won the majority of votes in the House of Representatives. The White House says president Donald Trump will sign the Countering America’s Adversaries Through Sanctions Act that has been referred to him.
