The real income of Belarusians has been falling since the beginning of the year.

This January, for example, it decreased by 5.4% compared to the same period in 2015 (according to the National Statistics Committee) and in January-May — by 7%. This is an anti-record not only for the current but also for the past year.

Reference: real disposable income is calculated as the difference between all cash income and mandatory payments (taxes, fees and contributions, which are adjusted for the consumer price index for goods and services). It is one of the main economic indicators which determines the citizens’ welfare.

Last year, real income fell by 5.9% despite the fact that the government planned to increase it at a rate of 1.1-1.5%. There is a planned growth of 0.5% compared to the previous year.
