Ramzan Kadyrov arrives in Belarus

Chechnya’s leader Ramzan Kadyrov has arrived in Belarus on Monday evening. he has been welcomed by Deputy Prime Minister Mikhail Rusy.

Kadyrov is expected to meet with Belarus president Alyaksandr Lukashenka. The sides will consider the issue of improving industrial cooperation during the visit.

Minsk expressed their readiness to significantly increase the supply of truck, agricultural and transport equipment to Chechnya. It is not ruled out that Belarus will send its specialists to design new facilities in Chechnya.

At November’s press conference for Russian journalists, Alyaksandr Lukashenka expressed regret that Kadyrov had never been to Belarus.

On the same day, Ramzan Kadyrov addressed the Belarusian leader on Twitter and Instagram and showed his readiness to arrive in Minsk and meet with him.

At that moment, thousands of Chechens – citizens of Russia – were staying at the Belarusian city of Brest. They wanted to get into the EU and seek asylum, but Polish border guards were reluctant to let them pass. Kadyrov attempted to assure the fugitives that there was no threat to them in Chechnya and stressedthat it was ‘inappropriate’ to call them ‘refugees’.
