Vladimir Putin grants Russian citizenship to U.S. actor Steven Seagal

Vladimir Putin has signed a decree on Steven Seagal’s being admitted to the citizenship of the Russian Federation.

In January 2013, President Vladimir Putin presented French actor Gerard Depardieu with a Russian passport for his ‘contribution to culture and cinema’.

Visiting Russia’s Sakhalin in September, Seagal did not rule out his accession to the country’s citizenship.

“I think that Russia’s citizenship is somewhere in the offing. I’d really like to spend a few months per year with my friends in Russia, with the people who love me here and wait for me,” the Hollywood star said.

Interestingly, Seagal became a citizen of Serbia in January.

The U.S. actor is known for his roles in action films. He has appeared in nearly 50 films, including Half past Dead, Submerged, Today You Die and Machete.

In late August, Steven Seagal visited Belarus and met with Belarusian president Alyaksandr LukashenkaThe latter treated the Hollywood star to a carrot from his garden, which greatly amused Internet users.
