Pure Russian oil finally reaches Belarus

On May 2, Russian standardized oil arrived at the border of Belarus, “Belneftekhim” reports with reference to the dispatch service of “Gomeltransneft Druzhba”.

The oil contaminated with organic chloride from the Russian section of the Druzhba pipeline was forced out in the reservoir of the Unecha station.

After standard technological operations and sampling, high-quality oil continued on its way towards Mazyr.

All actions by the parties have been agreed and are on schedule, the concern said.

After Russia’s refusal to compensate Belarus for possible losses from the tax maneuver, the official Minsk announced a possible increase in tariffs for pumping Russian oil through its territory by 23% — lowest among transit countries. In addition, Belarus reported about potential stopping of the Druzhba pipeline for repairs.

The Russian side did not agree with the arguments of Belarus. Shortly thereafter, substandard Russian oil began to flow into the Belarusian oil pipelines, in which the chloride content is 17 times higher than normal. This damaged the equipment of the Mazyr Oil Refinery. The Russian side recognized the poor quality of the oil and promised to rectify the situation on April 22-23.
