How illegal weapon gets into EU

According to British journalists, weapons are smuggled from Ukraine to the EU.

Sky News wrote about Ukraine becoming a source of contraband arms shipments to Western Europe.

The article explains how journalists met in Romania with one of the local groups involved in arms smuggling.

According to the journalists, in the trunk of car smugglers had weapons available for purchase. Smugglers assured them that they “could supply thousands of weapons and ammunition items.”

“We can bring as much of it (weapons) and ammunition from Ukraine as you want,” one of the group members told reporters.

It is also noted that, according to the smugglers, they supply weapons smuggled from Ukraine to Romania before being sent to other countries in Western Europe and the Middle East. But Western Europe was and is the main destination point of smuggled weapons.

You can buy grenades and grenade launchers

Smugglers also said that they specialize in small arms, but they had a close relationship with another gang, which specializes in heavy weapons, grenades, grenade launchers and mines.

Journalists note that among the weapons that “smugglers showed” were examples of modern weapons of high quality. One of them – Austrian military rifle Steyr – was complete with a modern scope costing 3 thousand Euros.

Additional samples of illegal arms that the sellers offered were semi-automatic rifles, shotguns, hunting rifles and pistols.

“The place of honor is given to the AK-47. This weapon, they said, has been sold in Europe better than others in the past two years (1,700 euros). AK-47 has become the number one weapon of terrorists,” the newspaper notes.
