Protester dies in hospital. Residents of Zhodzina meet with local executive committee chair


Residents of Zhodzina have met with the chairman of the city executive committee Dzmitry Zablotski. They demanded to announce the voting results at some polling stations and stated that brutal actions of riot police led to the death of a demonstrator, while the head of the city denied it.

In the evening of August 13, a mass action took place in the center of Zhodzina.

Chairman of the City Executive Committee stated that there are no riot police in the city, but only internal troops guarding the detention center. According to him, 500 people were released from the detention center that day.

At the rally, an ambulance doctor said that a young man died in the city hospital after being beaten by law enforcers. Zablotski called it “a lie,” but promised to come to the hospital and see the beaten person.

Residents of Zhodzina demanded from Zablotski allowed them to gather in the city center every day without delay until the announcement of the election results. To that he said that people “were given certain instructions”.

According to him, the man, beaten by law enforcement officers at the rally, “based on preliminary information, was suspected of committing a crime, he resisted during the detention”.

He was asked: “If the residents of the city ask you to leave, you will leave or not. He did not answer that and just left.
