Pressure exerted on political prisoner Mikhail Zhamchuzhny – Human rights watchdog


Earlier Mikhail Zhamchuzhny served his sentence in Vaukavysk. In July 2017, he was transferred to penal colony No. 9 in the town of Horki.

It is the second time that Zhamchuzhny has been put into a punishment cell since the transfer, spring96.org reports.

Mikhail Zhamchuzhny is a human rights activist, who was sentenced to 6.5 years of imprisonment in a penal colony in July 2015. The sentence delivered by Vitsebsk Regional Court also includes a ban on holding positions related to the implementation of organizational and administrative duties for a period of 2 years and 8 months. Belarusian human rights defenders declared the convict a political prisoner.
