Presidential election in Ukraine: Zelenskiy and Poroshenko through to second round

As of 9:00, the Central Election Commission of Ukraine processed more than 51% of protocols in electronic form.

Calculations show that in the first round of presidential elections in Ukraine, at least 30.20% of voters cast their vote in favor of the comedian Volodymyr Zelenskiy. The incumbent president Petro Poroshenko will join him in the second round after receiving 16.64% votes. These data are published on the website of the CEC of Ukraine.

Zelenskiy and Poroshenko are followed by the leader of “Batkivschyna” Yulia Tymoshenko (13.08%), the representative of the pro-Russian party “For Life”, the former member of the “Party of Regions” Yuriy Boyko (11.43%), the leader of the “Civic Position” Anatoliy Hrytsenko (7.11% ), former head of the SBU Ihor Smeshko (5.93%), leader of the “Radical Party” Oleh Lyashko (5.12%), leader of the “Opposition Bloc” Oleksandr Vilkul (4.21%), single candidate from the nationalists Ruslan Kashulinskiy (1 , 66%). The remaining presidential candidates received less than 1% of the vote.

Thus, Zelenskiy and Poroshenko are through to the second round. This also corresponds to the infromation from the national exit polls published last night. Meanwhile, Yulia Tymoshenko expressed confidence that it would be her, and not Poroshenko, who would be through to the second round.

Volodymyr Zelenskiy used his Instagram to thank the Ukrainians for their support.

Petro Poroshenko reminded in his Twitter that April 1 is the April Fool’s Day. But on 2 April, it will already be necessary to move forward, “because it is not a joke.”
