President Lukashenka sets date for local elections

At the working meeting with the CEC Chair Alyaksandr Lukashenka supported the proposal to hold the elections to the local councils on 18 February 2018.

“The main thing for me is to decide on the date, the financing and the draft decree to be signed. I think that the middle of February, maybe even the 18th, as we have discussed, will be acceptable. February is a quiet month,” press service quoted Lukashenka.

Lukashenka noted the issue of commission members’ wages. “The salary of the people connected with the elections is sacred,” he said.

Lukashenka stressed that the government will create all the conditions for holding elections at a decent level.

“We will not hide anything. Those who are willing to go to the polls, will be able to do it, he said. – As always, authorities at all levels will work in the direction sert by the Central Election Commission.”

According to Lidziya Yarmoshyna, the electoral budget will be almost the same as in 2014 — about $ 10.5 million.
