Presumably, Syarhei was allowed to call Svyatlana on the personal order of Alyaksandr Lukashenka.
This is the first conversation of the spouses in 4 months, or 134 days (Svyatlana Tsikhanouskaya is counting).
“Details will come later,” the former presidential candidate wrote in her telegram channel.
Franak Vyachorka, an advisor to Tsikhanouskaya, said that it was a surprise for Syarhei to have a conversation with Svyatlana.
The couple talked about the children and conditions of Syarhey’s detention. He advised to continue meetings with the leaders of foreign countries and expressed his conviction that it is necessary to act harder.
During the conversation, Syarhei Tsikhanousky said that he saw his wife with French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Angela Merkel, he also asked his wife what relatives tell children about where their dad is now. Svetlana said that they were “fed with fairy tales” and said that he was on a business trip. She also added that she was doing “everything possible to get everyone out as soon as possible,” but did not know how long “it might take.”
The husband urged Svetlana Tikhanovskaya to “be tougher”. Earlier, she noted that she wants to see her husband as soon as possible.
A blogger from Gomel, Sergei Tikhanovsky, was detained on May 29 in Grodno, during a picket to collect signatures for his nomination for presidency. For this picket, the Investigative Committee opened a criminal case under the article “organization and preparation of actions that grossly violate public order.” After that, Svetlana Tikhanovskaya nominated her candidacy for the elections.
