Political prisoner Mikhail Zhamchuzhny placed in ward-type room for six months

According to the human rights portal spring96.org, political prisoner Mikhail Zhamchuzhny was placed in a ward-type room for 6 months.

According to human rights activists, Zhamchuzhny was placed in the ward-type room for another refusal to go to his unit after leaving the punishment cell. The political prisoner has counted 77 penalties imposed on him, 71 of which were imposed in Horki Penal Colony #9, where he is currently serving his sentence.

The political prisoner does not complain about his health and wrote that he feels normal. He also reports that the administration of the colony finally gave him vitamins, which had been previously sent to him by human rights activist Anastasia Loika. To date, no vitamins have been given to him due to lack of recommendations on their use by the medical unit.

  • In 2015, public activist, founder of Platform Inovation Mikhail Zhamchuzhny was sentenced to 6.5 years in a strict regime penal colony. In 2013-2014, the activist received from an internal affairs ministry employee official documents with information, which, according to Zhamchuzhny, was of public interest — he passed the documents to the human rights institution Platforma. This situation was the reason for criminal prosecution. Zhamchuzhny was found guilty of inciting deliberate disclosure of information that constitutes official secrets, illegal acquisition of special technical equipment intended for receipt of information, bribery.
  • According to the Belarusian human rights activists, there are now four political prisoners in the country: Mikhail Zhamchuzhny, Mikita Yemelyanau, Ivan Komar and Filip Shaurou.
