During the NATO summit in London, Andrzej Duda said that his country, as well as the entire Alliance, is closely watching the Belarusian-Russian relations.
“Each sovereign state decides which alliances it belongs to. How will it organize its internal affairs, including issues of the political system. We are supporters of democracy, as we believe that democracy is the system that has proven to be the best in history, which functions best. But every state has the right to make its own sovereign decisions,” Andrzej Duda said at the concluding press conference, answering a question from Polish journalist Dominika Czosycz.
According to the Polish leader, Poland and its allies are closely watching their neighbors and, in particular, whether small states have the opportunity to preserve their sovereignty and decide their fate in relations with large states.
“From this point of view, we will observe the relations between the states, whether it’s Ukraine and Russia, or Belarus and Russia. So far, everything has been happening according to the principle of consensus among States and peoples, and we see no problem. If one state starts to behave aggressively towards another and starts to force some actions or concessions, then the problem begins, but today we are not talking about it,” added Andrzej Duda.
On December 3-4, London hosted the 32nd NATO summit, at which the Alliance celebrated its 70th anniversary.
