Polish Foreign Minister and Makei fail to agree on Belsat accreditation

The meeting was held in the Minsk hotel “Victoria 2”. Before the meeting, Witold Waszczykowski answered some questions from the press.

“We talked about human rights, that the media are free and they cannot be used by politicians,” said Waszczykowski about the meeting with Makei and about the likelihood of Belsat getting accreditation.

According to tut.by, when asked a clarifying question, whether it was possible to reach an agreement on “Belsat”, the Polish minister said “No”.

On the question of liberalization in Belarus, the head of the Polish diplomacy said he did not want to comment on the internal policy of Belarus: “We are sensitive about each offense and violation of rights. The future of Belarus depends on the Belarusian people.”

Uladzimir Makei and Polish Minister discussed the issue of the Union of Poles in Belarus.

“It was a long conversation. We also talked about postponing the discussion of this issue, so that it does not give extra hope, if we cannot solve it, because we want to first start this talk with the experts and representatives of our ministries so that they can develop a mechanism for a positive solution.”

At the end of his visit to Belarus, the Minister will visit Vaukavysk, where his mother was born, but after World War II, her family moved to Poland.
